Form Code For Websites
Hi Boys N Girls
Im trying to create a Website for my business, Ive only managed to get a few pages done so far with a few products on
My trouble is that I want to be able to add a kind of online form where people can either add items to a basket for checkout, or have a kind of buy now button on the page, so they can tick the products they want and then click buy now.
its either that or im going to have to use product codes, which i guess is ok but it means the customer has to write the codes down on paper before ordering.
Have a look what I mean
http://sweetandsaucy.org
Then Click Cards
OK so you can see im using product codes on this page, but there must be some codes or form templates out there that i can use for buy now or checkout?
Im not very good with webdesign, but I found this website
http://jotform.com/
And that lets you build a form and even has a link for paypal so you can request payment, the trouble is when i add a form from this web addy it doesn't seem to work, it looks completely wrong.
If anyone can help I'd appreciate it as its starting to give me Brain ache.

Re: Form Code For Websites
OK first of all, it would be insane for you to build a shop from scratch, I'm assuming you have no knowledge of PHP, ASP or the like? If you want to do it yourself, fair play, but even I would use a pre-build package such as http://www.oscommerce.com/ to do the job for me, also the font is next to unreadable, you really need to think of accessibility when building a site like this,

In all seriousness - your site design already precludes me from using it so I can't answer your questions.
I would have thought you'd want as many people as possible to be able to use it?
Just my 2p and trying to get you more customers

Be sure to check the pages with the W3C validation site ( http://validator.w3.org) as it will help you find and fix errors.

Definitely!
For some basic protection, you can encode the e-mail address using: http://www.wbwip.com/wbw/emailencoder.html
It's not fool-proof, but it's better than nothing.

Re: Form Code For Websites
When one looks at the source code for your website, as it stands at present, it is a mess. I don't profess to be an expert but even I can see issues.
There is no consistency in the styling of pages: Ideally you should be using css with one common style sheet that affects all pages. At present many displayed pages are a repeat and repeat and repeat of style information as the content is built up. That will make fine tuning the website and hunting down little changes and problems a nightmare.
Modern web design shouldn't use tables to control the page layout. A table should only be used where you are actually displaying content in tabular form. Neither search engines, nor text readers (such as those needed by the poorly sighted) can work out what information is in what order with a page layout controlled totally by tabular form.
A lot of software like MS frontpage, web builder and other web design things will code the html and stuff which web browsers wil sort of get to. But unless you can develop a basic understanding of web code you website will not work as effectively as you desire and future updates and alterations will be a pain.
At least for the product selection and ordering process, don't reinvent the wheel. Look for some proper shop website software. Make sure too that if you are asking for any customer details they are being logged to a secured database on a secured website. That means you need to get into website security certificates and stuff. Paypal payments might not be enough.

For a business website I beleive you should be providing an email address for contact. Pain as that is for the spammers. I wouldn't entertain using a business that didn't provide the essential contact details.
