Domain renewal?
Hello,
I'm looking at a site which has these details:
Relevant dates:
Registered on: 04-May-2004
Renewal date: 04-May-2008
Last updated: 20-Jun-2006
Registration status:
Registered until renewal date.
On the 4th May 2008, am I able to purchase it as it would have expired, or does the current registered party have a time frame in which they could renew?

Re: Domain renewal?
I usually get notified about a month before it expires, and then once a week up to it expiring - mine auto-renew though so maybe this one will too.
If I let one expire, I expect it would be available to anyone.

They have a time frame inwhich to renew, and if they don't you then have to wait x amount (60 days maybe can't remember) - until the name is deleted off the register, and then you can try and grab it

Re: Domain renewal?
Thanks for the replies! Thought there might be a time between expiry and it becoming available to register again...

Re: Domain renewal?
im not sure with .co.uk but its normally 75 days after expiry that a .com is available to re-register
the .co.uk would get detagged after a certain period of time of which it can still be renewed via nominet

Re: Domain renewal?
GTLD's .com. net is anyting between 60-90 days, its really up to the registra.
With regards to .co.uk again, this a 60 day period of which the domain goes through a redemption period as well.

Re: Domain renewal?
Depends if it's registered via enom.
They seem to keep expired domains for 12 months + 90 days

Re: Domain renewal?
Nope - they shouldn't be doing that, the ICANN rule states between 60-90 days
