Re: Really Cheap Domain Needed!
Never had a problem with 1and1 for UK domains.
or namecheap for .com .net .org
Might be cheaper around but usually there's not that much in it. Not enough to make me want to go elsewhere anyway.

1and1 do a .co.uk for about £2.60 a month, don't think you can beat that.

Think you mean per year Lycos beats it by 45p, £4.75 for 2 years.
I had an issue with Lycos today actually, rang their helpline and they had it sorted in under 5 minutes. (FYI it was about not being able to edit the name servers, it was asking me to add it onto my package but it should have already been there). First issue I've ever had. Top notch. Used them for 5 years now.

For the £4.68 (price including vat Just quoted) Do I get full access to using a different host etc including name server changes?
£6.56 I'm paying from 123-reg (used to be £6.09) and now I feel like I'm getting done.

Yes you can change your name servers yourself.

Lycos do allow full DNS access yes, and their control panel is by far the easiest I've ever used. One thing you cannot do however is pull a domain in (they don't support it yet). So you would have to let it expire completely then purchase it in Lycos for them to fully take care of it, or you can change the name servers on your current registrar to point to Lycos, then pull it in for free into their control panel and control it from there. I've done it with 2 domains. Only downside is you don't pay Lycos's prices for it, you still pay the other registrar
