Re: YouTube.com down?
Not that I want to start a full scale debate on this at all.
They complain that there is offensive material directed at them on YouTube, but it's ok for them to allow people to view/host extremist websites, praising suicide bombers and attacks on western institutes/civilisation.

At the same time cutting off mpls and other potentially business critical ip-vpn services not to mention mail relays worldwide stacking up with pending messages and NDRs flying around all over the place. The mind boggles.

Re: YouTube.com down?
not to mention instructions for constructing explosive devices aimed at those who don't think the same way they do... or, as mentioned recently on this very site, videos of executions, etc, without thought of the fact others might deem that offensive...
it's always all about them, isn't it? I don't often hear anyone else going to such length and complaining they find stuff offensive. it only seems to be one, maybe two 'religious' groups that seem to cause the upset, and in doing so, attract MORE attention to the very thing they wanted to stop people seeing!! 'one rule' springs to mind....

Re: YouTube.com down?
It says in the report that Pakistan has been locked out of the internet while they sort the rogue code out.
Does this mean that all those call centre will be in the dark?
UK call centres another step closer we hope.

Re: YouTube.com down?
Call centres are in India, not Pakistan.
Different country, mainly different religion.

Re: YouTube.com down?
Well it's ok for them to take YouTube down, but as I posted earlier it's ok for them to host websites or channels that show innocent westerners being held hostage.
Gets might goat right up!!!
BBC Link
Sorry for taking it slightly OT

Re: YouTube.com down?
The real details are starting to emerge now.
Pakistan banned access to youtube because they were hosting a trailer to a new film from an Islam critic Geert Wilders (called Fitna). However, just recently, Pakistan suddenly relaxed the restriction. And now we know its because youtube had removed the video. So its nice to know that youtube is now a patsy to the Pakistani government and Islamic extremists and they now the moderators of youtube's content.
This is going to make Wilder's film distribution a bit difficult now. Naturally noone wants to touch it as everyone knows what can happen when you upset Muslims (Dutch embassies are already planning evacuation procedures), so the plan was to make it available on youtube. He'll have to re-think that now. I dare say he'll find someone willing to stand up to them though eventually.
Edit: There are still copies floating around on youtube if you look hard enough. Also apparently there are misnamed copies (to hide them) that are correctly linked to so you can find it via Google if you wanted to.
