Full Screen On Youtube
I've just bought a new laptop and went on youtube and then full screen and it worked. Then i installed Norton and now the full screen option on youtube doesn't work, it just goes onto a full blank black screen and to get it off you have to press escape. So is it vista on the new laptop or norton or something else that's causing the problem?
By the way norton was causing a few other problems like freezing the speed test so that it took ages to get the result so i uninstalled their tool bar and switched off the phishing filter and turned on ie7's phishing filter instead and the speed test is working properly again with faster results too.
Thanks

Re: Full Screen On Youtube
Norton is a pile of crap imo.
Use AVG, or Nod32.

Re: Full Screen On Youtube
Norton and Zone Alarm products regularly feature highly in the list of culprits when the causes of inexplicable PC glitches are eventually uncovered.
Personally I steer well clear of both of them.

Re: Full Screen On Youtube
Also i've just discovered that wmp 11 is not working, it's just the sound but no picture the same as youtube. It was working fine yesterday when i first tried it. I wonder if it's to do with norton. I bought the McAfee total protection for my computer at home, could i install that on my parents new laptop, in other words could i use the McAfee cd again on another computer after using it on mine? Then i could get this 3 month norton trial that came with my parents laptop of the system.

Re: Full Screen On Youtube
You'll need to check on Mcafee's forums for that. Not all their products are for more than one machine.
http://forums.mcafeehelp.com
They're a helpful lot.
Sure there's nothing else been installed/changed on the machine? Norton's IS the Devil incarnate, but it shouldn't take out WMP.

PS: take note of this http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...05033108162039
Norton products (particularly AV products) are notoriously hard to completely uninstall.
Use this tool after uninstalling.

Re: Full Screen On Youtube
the first two letters of NOrton should give you a clue....
*shakes head in disbelief that anyone would run that or Macpayafee*
NOrton was the first thing to go when I first started up my brand new laptop... I saw it languishing there and said, 'NOrton - you're GOING!!!'
AVG.. the way to be
And it's FREE
Version 7.5

Re: Full Screen On Youtube
There was a link on here that one of the team put up for AVG Pro for free - http://www.computeractive.co.uk/avg/index
Just checked it and it's expired which is a shame. I did download it though, not sure if it'd be appropriate to distribute however?

Re: Full Screen On Youtube
Apparently the no video is a common problem with WMP 11 and VISTA, nothing to do with your firewalls or AV.
A few people have said installing a codec pack for Vista fixed it
I wouldn't know, i'm on XP, but a few friends have had the problem.

AVG 7.5 Pro was on the cover of PCW last month, valid until support for 7.5 expires.

Re: Full Screen On Youtube
I'm using Vista on a laptop and WMP11 and the only problem I've encountered *anywhere* is on the bbc news site.... and thats not entirely my fault as the beeb have yet to update their kit so that WMP11 is recognised, although, in some areas of the bbc, that does actually work...
I've not installed anything special at all or had to to be able to view videos.... if youtube is a problem it's more likely to be a flash thing than anything..... or something to do with the way your browser of choice has been configured
