Re: Qtrax website
Apparently this system used Gnutella to get access to the proposed 30m songs - but after big noises about deals with labels it turns out those deals are little more than advanced discussions in the majority of cases.
There's also no clear position on the legality of 'importing' music from the US via the internet into the EU - which was an issue (albiet the importing was being done from Russia into the EU) via companies such as AllofMP3 which has since been proscribed. The other precident on this area was that the labels themselves cried breach of copyright when companies such as Amazon.com (US), Play and CDWOW sold non-EU sourced CDs to EU residents - so how could this be different from QTrax?
I think this is a highly innovative concept of users getting music, however it devalues the product, doesn't pay the right people for their products and legitimises the existence of Gnutella's illegally uploaded files (and hence the existence of Gnutella) for 'legal' music downloads - so I am not sure this one will ever grow legs.

Re: Qtrax website
Well apparently the software is available now in 'beta' form.
Has anyone tried it yet?
