Re: Ebay
Firstly this has nothing to do with Virgin Media - so moved to the appropriate forum. Secondly, its a clear cut answer, you should pay, you entered an auction and won the bid, so you entered into a legally binding contract.

Re: Ebay
Well you don't have to (pay, i mean), they were dumb enough to send it without payment...lol.
But morally yes of course, especially if you don't want to risk a red feedback or a guilt trip.

Re: Ebay
The seller was taking a risk sending an item before payment had been received.
If you don't want it, then send it back to the seller.
By signing up to ebay you did however agree to the rules where if you win an item, you pay for it.
The seller will also have had to pay a final value fee and listing costs on the item.
Unless it is not the goods advertised or there is a problem with it, you should really do the honest thing and pay for it to avoid any negative feedbacks, ebay debates, etc.

If you don't pay for it then you're just a common thief.

Sorry but if i was daft enough to do that as a seller i'd write it off as a lesson to be learned. If they paid then i'd probably refund half of it back to them for being so honest!

Quite extreme, i'd be inclined to disagree.

Hardly in the spirit of ebay is it!
We bought a horse from holland £4500 (not off ebay) and they delivered that before we had transfered the funds to them!
its called trust!

Re: Ebay
If you did not win the item, how could the seller have sent you the item?
Only after you win the item does the seller get your details from eBay.
Unless, however - the winner did not pay up and the seller gave you the second chance offer, for the 2nd highest bidder, but then again you have to accept it
