Overclockers - overpriced Wii
I can't believe Overclockers are selling Wii's at £100 over the odds AND its a european version which requires a plug adaptor. The european model is widely available at 269 euros so it just looks like theyre trying to con people.

Re: Overclockers - overpriced Wii
Yeah a local shop tried that, as they had to import them themselves by air mail, told them where to shove it. I got mine by just calling about stores until i found one, only took an hour or so

Re: Overclockers - overpriced Wii
Until Nintendo or some other company step in and sort this out I am afraid that it will continue. Anyone wonder how small independent retailers seem to get stock and the large national stores don't?
It's because they buy stock and hold it purely for this time of year when they can get away with rip-off prices.
A word of advice to anyone unable to get one at a reasonable price? DON'T buy one until after the New Year when amazingly stock will increase and prices will settle.
Makes me sick people can get away with this.

Re: Overclockers - overpriced Wii
Well if I had a barrow load of em this time of year when there is none about id inflate the price and I would still sleep well at night knowing I got a nice full wallet. Only those prepared to pay these costs will buy at these costs so more fool them and fair play to those making a quick profit.

Re: Overclockers - overpriced Wii
I dont have a problem with inflating the price of stock that is not generally available. My point is that euro Wii's that need a plug adaptor are freely available.
At the end of the day who cares, its Nintendo who are damaging themselves.

Re: Overclockers - overpriced Wii
Supply and demand... if there's the demand then why not sell them at such an inflated price. You could argue that Overclockers could lose some goodwill by selling them with such a high markup, but then again Overclockers has never been the "bargain basement" of online stores, and I think most people have pretty short memories in any case.

I don't see how it's Nintendo's fault if a retailer is adding an extra £150 on top of the RRP. Nintnedo have gone on record saying they're making 1.8 million consoles per month, and they seem to be selling them too - hence the markup over at OcUK. I just don't see how this is damaging to Nintendo... they're still making their profit on each one sold.

Its Nintendos fault for not being able to supply the demand. I mean its a bit of shocker that this December contains Christmas. They know the volumes that they have sold this year, they can predict seasonal increase as any other manufacturer has too.
Parents will buy alternative gifts and asa result Nintendo lose out.

Re: Overclockers - overpriced Wii
For anyone that's looking for a Wii at normal prices, Amazon in France and Germany used to have them in stock (not checked today though) and they only charged about a tenner to get it shipped to the UK. Like OCUK's ones, it would need a travel adapter so you could plug it in over here.

Oh right, I see what you mean now. I guess they've done their sums though, and calculated whether it would be financially worth their while bringing more factories online to satisfy demand or not. I agree that they should have predicted this shortage again this Xmas... it was bad enough last xmas and throughout the rest of the year, so it's hardly surprising they're so hard to get hold of again now we're running up to the Xmas period.

Exactly my point, they are freely available in europe and a reasonable price. OC are just buying those adding on £100 per unit and selling them on. There are euro providers providing the adaptor for free too.
Despite what you say Amazon de or fr will not ship Wii consoles to ship to the uk any longer.

I read somewhere Amazon are blocking sale from the UK for this very reason. I haven't tried to buy one as yet, but more fool the buyers if they want to pay an extra £100-150 on top then more fool them.

Re: Overclockers - overpriced Wii
Oh right... wasn't aware that Amazon had stopped that. Bit of a bummer for anyone looking at getting a Wii this Xmas. After all, one of the selling points of the EU was suppsoed to be the free movement of goods and people between Member States Maybe I should buy some and get them shipped to my in-laws in Montpellier, who could forward them on to me, and then I'll sell 'em on ebay at OCUK's price.

it was stopped in the last week. Given that yours arrived in 4 days and you have it, i suspect you ordered it over a week ago
