PowerUsenet.com or UsenetServer.com

Using .news.astraweb.com at the moment not the best using the monthly unlimited service. When you buy in chunks of 90Gb though I think the speed, service and value is very good.

I want something to max out my 20Mb connection (not peak hours). Astraweb could do this but not all the time and only when using '90Gb/etc allowances.

What are your guy’s views on the monthly unlimited options PowerUsenet and UsenetServer offer?

Also – I am aware that giganews.com is the best but they are not an option for me.

Re: PowerUsenet.com or UsenetServer.com

looking at the 2 you mentioned usenetserver.com lookes to be the best IMO. Why? just out of intrest have you discounted giganews?
Also newshosting.com offers 8 connections unlimited for $15pm. Stay well clear of newsdemon there pants IMO.

Powerusenet resell giganews services anyway, its just because they are cheaper they cut the number of simultaneous connections and the retention isn't as good as giganews (I would imagine so not to be stealing customers from giganews)

I've never had a problem with them and I'm usually able to max out my 7.15mbit DSL line with them (only time it doesn't is when I'm being traffic shaped by my ISP then i usually get ~2mbit/s)

there's only a couple times where the extra retention giganews offers has been useful (I get free giganews access anyway since my ISP outsources to them although the free access is capped to 1.5mbit/s)

Yeah Giganews are just a bit too expensive – although if they significantly faster and more reliable I might consider paying the extra.

What I like about UsenetServer is that you can pay in 3 month quotas – useful for a student like me paid in cash rather than direct debit!

I think most of them you can cancel it anytime anyway.

I know on powerusenet I have a option in my control panel that says cancel/uncancel account

Never actually tried it though

Re: PowerUsenet.com or UsenetServer.com

Well I think I will go with Powerusnet.

If was going to download in the region of 250GB a month then GigaNews would be worth it.

But I will download between 75GB and 150GB a month. And It will never be in peak hours - so I think Powerusent will do the job fine.
