IE6

is it end of life for security patches or are MS patching it for a while?

As I plan to keep it on the system I noticed not only is IE7 more bulky and buggy then IE6 it was slowing down my entire windows so keeping IE6 on. I use opera as well so IE isnt used for all my browsing, if there is no more patches for it I plan to disable activex etc. for all non trusted sites.

Support ends either 12 or 24 months after the next service pack releases or at the end of the product's support lifecycle, whichever comes first. Visit the Lifecycle page to find the support timelines for your particular product.
Confusing but my guess is when SP3 for XP is released it will have IE7 in it so the support will end then. I havent seen any new patches for IE6 tho after the IE7 date I think.
