Shock! Horror! Myspace founder lies on Myspace profile

Apparently, the founder of Myspace has lied about his age on his myspace profile.

This (perhaps predictably) has people (or one blogger anyway) in uproar.

This blogger has realised that (shock! horror!) you cannot automatically trust what people put on a website.

Now, how many people actually believe that MySpace, Facebook et al actually provide an accurate and truthful profile for all their members?

Of course they don't. They just display whatever people put in their profile. People lie sometimes.

For instance, for a while, my profile here (or nthellworld.com, can't remember which) said I was 99. It doesn't mean I actually am.

For the record, what details I have on here (and facebook) are truthful, but I do limit the information given out.

I think what's more worrying is the amount of people who pretend to be celebrities. That really needs to be cut down. The initial grumblings died down, but Hislop mentioned it on HIGNFY last week.

Also in the news : politicians don't always tell the truth.

I can only assume the guy was short of an idea when writing his blog... after all who really gives a monkey's?

Its a bit of a non-story really. Noone knows when he was born so noone knows whether he has been lying or not.

What I don't really get, is they made a big story about a guy lying about a few years of his age. Yet on that website, about half of them probably do aswell, just because he's your first 'friend' on there, your not going to go examining his age... Are people planning to meet up with him or something
