Spam Question
My partner has a Gmail account and since she signed up for some "voucher" on the Channel 4 / Big Brother News site she has been getting a tonne of spam claiming to be from ASDA (but not ASDA).
Any way to stop this??

That's what she's been doing - but I think it keys the sender address - and we all know what happens with that...

Re: Spam Question
I'm sure gmail has a feature which allows you to block email if it contains certain keywords which you can define.

Re: Spam Question
I know that it's a bit late to provide this advice but it may save you more hassle in the future. Click on this link:
http://www.temporaryinbox.com/?l=en
and register for temporary forwarding (it's free) and you'll be able to get mail delivered to your usual E Mail address. the beauty of this is that if you start getting spammed you simply delete the temporary inbox and viola the spam dies.
Incidentally, if you're running Firefox there's a pukka toolbar extension for same.
Cheers and Si thee.

Any ideas where that is? Had a look in GMail settings - couldn't find anything that might relate...

That's quite good - except you end up with a silly email address like j6qz1k3rpbcd57s@temporaryinbox.com - suppose that's the price we have to pay these days!

have a look at the filters tab, in settings, you can specify things like from/to addy, contains keywords, etc..

What you should looking for is Temporary Forwarding, which will allow you to have mail "forwarded" to your own E Mail address - basically a proxy mail server. This is the one you want - but you'll have to register (for this service), which is free.
I've been using this service for quite a while now and it's the dog's danglers, because if you start receiving SPAM you simply either change the (Temporary Forwarding) E mail alias (to something else) or delete the account - which ever option you use the SPAM dies.
Splendid stuff indeed.

Re: Spam Question
I have to say how efficient Gmail's spam filter is...Yes the occasional spam gets through about 3 to 4 a day but it nails the rest. It's better than 20 -30 which I get with my addy that I use for online buying.
