Unhappy Really Slow Internet. Any ideas.

Hi, I am using Win Vista Home Pro and Opera browser and am quite often getting a REALLY slow internet, especially when it comes to page loading.
I have noticed that IPV6 is enabled as I have one of those odd looking row of numbers when i do the "ipconfig /all" command in the cmd box.
Is it Opera incompatibility with Vista, just Vista being a bit dodgy or should/can I disable/uninstall the IPV6 protocol?
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx,
Ady.

Yes, IE7 kind of does the same thing although not as bad.
The thing with Opera is that if I get the error (page not found) screen, a refresh will load it ok 90% of the time.
I never had this problem before on XP. Could it be my router isn't compatible? I have a Safecom SBRU-10/100.
Thanx,
Ady.

Re: Really Slow Internet. Any ideas.

Have you tried any traceroutes while the internet is slow? Might help highlight where the issue is.

just d/loaded it and installed. I pinged Ubi.com as that was giving me loads of hassle last night and got a ping of 104. Not too bad considering its gone through USA and Canada.

I think I will uninstall IPV6 and see if that makes a difference. It did when I had XP Home so maybe it will work this time. I have VM so maybe they do not use it yet. I am not that knowlagable about ISPs and their protocols.

Re: Really Slow Internet. Any ideas.

Did your trace show any areas that were a lot worse than others?

Can't remember that exact ping set so i ave just pinged google. steps 9 to 14 were around the 80-110 mark. All others were at 45 max.
Not all steps had an address written by the ip addy, some were just written like this ---------------. Those tended to be the highest ping.

Re: Really Slow Internet. Any ideas.

Looks like a routing issue, might be worth copy and pasting the traceroute into a post, remove your IP from it though.
