Thumbs up Newshosting now has a euro server!

You can now download from newshosting using their euro server which should mean you can use less connections to get what you want and without breaking their rules. An unlimited account for newshosting costs around £8 a month and i think it's well worth it.

Login using: 69.16.176.254 and using port 119 seems to work fine along with the others listed on their site.

The above info doesn't seem to be listed on their site yet.

Re: Newshosting now has a euro server!

It's down to cost for me as i can always get what i want for £8 a month rather than £12-14 but if NH turned bad i'd change.

whats the advantages of using this address rather then the usual one?

i use 8 connections and max out on 10mb using port 8000 or 9000

would there be any reason for me to use 69.16.176.254

Re: Newshosting now has a euro server!

The routing isn't very good from Virgin to USA and to Europe it's far better. I used 15 connections to max out 10mbit on the USA servers but on the euro server i can do the same with 8. I'll wait and see what happens when i get upgraded to 20mbit though.

Re: Newshosting now has a euro server!

WOOO! much better. Getting 4mb off the Europe server and 2mb on the USA server. With the problems Stoke is having at the moment - this is much better. I have had to sign up for a 25gb account with Giganews just to get the connection to 3mb yesterday, and that was using Giga's euro server and Newshosting's USA server.

I'll see how it goes. But cheers!

Re: Newshosting now has a euro server!

Well after i found out that Newshosting now have a EU server i signed backup and also kept my Giganews server account as well

The following is the maximum speed from both and how many threads it needed to achieve this speed.

All test done between 7.00pm and 9.00pm

Giganews US server 9.3meg 6 Threads
Giganews EU server 9.3meg 4 Threads

Maximum threads allowed 10.

Both the above were very stable.

Newshosting US server 4.2meg 8 Threads (needed 18 to hit 9.3meg)
Newshosting EU server 8.7meg 8 Threads (needed 12 to hit 9.3meg)

Maximum threads allowed 8.

Both the above fluctuated constantly.

So at the end of the day thanks but no thanks to Newshosting. Going to stick with the best.

Re: Newshosting now has a euro server!

I have to say....

I was originally with Newshosting and through slow / fluctuating speeds (even using 10 connections) i left. I was originally using 15 connections (Thankyou Mr SnoopZ) and it was good. Then the emails came out threatening in view of 8 connections max policy bla bla

I then went to Giganews and i have to say, hats off to them, they were fantastic. But a tad expensive.

I am now back with Newshosting again and i am sorry i left Giga.. The speeds i am getting on ANY port / combination are poop

A good friend of mine mentioned Usenetserver.com - Anyone had any experience of these at all? He is happy with them. My current run with NH is up on the 21st and im looking for a new home / Giga

Even the Euro server is bad for you? I can max out on 10mbit on port 119 and 8 connections, although i expect problems when i get upgraded to 20mbit.

Re: Newshosting now has a euro server!

Yeh its poop m8

Have tried all ports and variations...

The only thing that improves it is more connections - Then it's maxed out. More than 8 connections = prod in the side from NH in email form about max connections again

Was downloading earlier and it was dropping to 600kb/s both on Euro and US. I know its going to be even worse on 20mb as i was on the trial before Christmas - That is what prompted me to jump ship to Giga as 2.4mb/s was constant.

Not sure if they do those emails anymore. I NEVER had an email and i used 15 connections.

Try connecting to the US server AND Euro server at the same time using 8 connections each as it made my connection better as it's not that great today, as i just checked. I wonder if they allow you to do that without getting a nasty email.
