Shabby treatment by Moduslink Windows Vista Upgrade Centre

What can I say, other than ask if anyone else have been shafted by these cowboys and paste my response:

Hello,

I have just received this email stating that MY ORDER MAY BE CANCELLED BECAUSE YOU CANNOT USE MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with my credit card. I know for a fact that there is a definite problem with your inadequate system.

I have checked on your website and I find that the order has been cancelled.

HOW DARE YOU!

I have waited 5 months for my Vista upgrade (order number XXXXXX. I have phoned you several times to check on progress and you have provided full assurances that the upgrade will be OK.

I had a similar instance with a previous Vista upgrade which was eventually cleared up by you.

I have been shabbily treated over this order and I most definitely will not leave things as they stand.

I require a speedy reply to this mail and in any case I will be phoning your office at the very next opportunity.

Yours,

Blah

Question Re: Shabby treatment by Moduslink Windows Vista Upgrade Centre

I may be missing something here, but why not just find a more reputable supplier who will accept debit cards or a cheque.

Was this due to the widespread problem with Visa cards the other week? If so, it affected debit cards as well (mine was rejected), and was not restricted to one card issuer, let alone one supplier.

Re: Shabby treatment by Moduslink Windows Vista Upgrade Centre

Hello All,

In answer to your questions:

If you bought a new computer just before Vista came out, the manufacturers offered you a voucher for a free upgrade to Vista. Moduslink is a reputable company (supposedly) who were engaged by Microsoft to provide those free upgrades. The only reason that they need your card is that you have to pay £11 for shipment from their base in Appeldoorn, Netherlands. Since this company was engaged by Microsoft, you cannot go anywhere else.

As far as I am concerned, the upgrade is part of the goods that I bought yet I am still waiting for it nearly 5 months later and I am being faced with nine kinds of ****e from them.

I know it is their systems at fault because I actually bought 2 computers and went throught the same kerfuffle with the other one as well though it was resolved in the end (last week...just in time for the laptop to blow up...but that is another story!!...see another thread when I get round to it!)

So no, it is not to do with any banking problem. It is completely due to the incompetence of Moduslink.

Apologies for missing half the story but I wrote the above email while I was still enraged!

I am now gathering myself for the next stage of this particular battle, while at the same time I am in the middle of another long standing issue about a constantly failing Toshiba laptop...not to mention the incorrect bills I get from Virgin...rant rant...(time for a stress pill....)
