help - convert wma to mp3???
we have a lot of wma files, but we want them to be mp3's instead so that they can go on the mp3 player... can anyone recommend any free software to change the files - is it possible? for free? paying is ok as long as it works very well. instructions or directions please...

Both WMA and MP3 are lossy formats. Each time you convert to another lossy format, you lose quality.
TBH, if you have the original song on CD, it's best to rip again from that.

Re: help - convert wma to mp3???
cool! thanking you's. I've done the thing so stuff now downloads as mp3, but would I be able to do this if I'm using ntl's sonic selector thing? or would that still automatically download as wma?

Re: help - convert wma to mp3???
of course I could just buy a better mp3 player that deals with wma files and drm!? duh. this only just occured to me... shame that it doesn't immediately state in the argos book which ones are compatible - had to trawl through the website and do comparisons, oh well. I shall be purchasing a shiny new toy soon!
