Is that not just a skinned Internet Explorer? It uses IE's engine afterall.

this in its phase is a navigator created with the motor of
intenet explorer, the navigator is beta even totally usable
single some bugs which are:
1_ no tabs the windows open in different windows
2_ the sweeps of of search google is is single an image
3_ bookmanager this in progress
4_ the Control Panel also this in Progress, single shows the option to change skin
|
Nice, so it runs on the IE engine and has no working tabs yet, might have to wait for a bit more work to be done before I think of ditching FF or IE6 for this one

Re: Safari for Windows
In case anyone is wondering, the real Safari is built on Konqueror's rendering engine, not IE's.

Re: Safari for Windows
I don't see why is needs to be released for windows. Firefox has more features. It is useful for mac because it's engine was built for mac making it one of the few efficient browsers for the platform. The PC platform has enough development.

Re: Safari for Windows
Firefox for mac is easily better than safari now anyway, apple have let some of there programs slip drastically recently with safari being a prefect example.
Progress on safari has been poor at best and with firefox apple need to really go all out in 2.0. As for windows there really is no need to have safari, least of all such a poor adapation such as this .

Actually performance has improved in 1.3, I happen to have a developers preview. I still can't decide which is 'faster' though.

Re: Safari for Windows
Well i dont have the preview obviously, but these are the main improvments required:
1. Faster
2. Handlers more sites (really, it so stupid how many sites dont work correctly)
3. Ability to theme the bloody thing, brush metal is getting a bit old now.

1st is done
Not sure on the 2nd
And I don't think 3 is going to happen, Apple make a nice interface, they don't like people messing with it. You can get a ultility that turns the brushed metal off leaving the whole thing white.

Which you can get here, but beware, judging by some of the comments it may be a little flakey with later versions of Safari. I tried Safari Enhancer and switched it off again almost immediately. I think the brushed metal looks better on Safari than the standard Apple window design.
