It would appear that there is a new threat to windows/Linux systems through sun java applets.
This has been classed as critical.

A way of bypassing the sandbox. Do many home users have Java though?

None of the websites I visit have applets.

Quite a lot of my favourite site use them.
You might be suprised at the sites that do use them, http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks being one of them.

Must just be me then

I know that the Oracle ERP system uses applets and needs the Sun Java VM to work correctly.

Wow, thanks for the heads-up. As a Java programmer, this is very important for me. And I'd agree that the number of sites that use Java applets instead of ActiveX controls is indeed significant, and is one of the primary reasons that Java became so widespread so quickly.

Yeah, I use Java in my everyday job. Although I'm not a code monkey, as I didn't like the isolation. Now, instead, I do tech support for a software house, so I get to trawl through other people's code and pick up their errors.

It's a bit less lonely than being a programmer.

Fair play on getting the Sun certification. I never got round to trying it, but it's been on my mind for a while.
