email notification progs ??
As the title says, what / how do you get notified of emails ??
I'm using HideOE, its not bad, basic and sometimes forgets to reload when I close down OE, but I'm looking for some recommendations for a new method / prog.
TIA

Re: email notification progs ??
I use MSN Messenger (plus) to monitor my e-mail accounts and tell me when they have new mail.

If you have a GMail account you can use the Gmail notifier that is on there website.
It runs on your task bar and pops up when you get an email
Only downside is you have to keep logging on every time you start the PC

Re: email notification progs ??
If you're installing MSN Plus, check out your machine for any spyware, cause I've read stuff about it installing some. IIRC, the EULA that you agree to is for the spyware and not for MSN Plus, but as nobody ever reads the EULAs, everyone just assumes it's for MSN Plus so happily agrees to it being installed, whereas you can click no to the spyware EULA and just have MSN Plus installed cleanly.
However, I could be mistaken and talking complete rubbish - it's pretty early in the morning for me

I was wondering about this last night, after I had installed it there was a lot of 'extras ' that came bundled with it... casino online, travel, anextra toolbar on both task bar and explorer, needless to say, i've uninstalled it untill i look at it properly

Re: email notification progs ??
When you install Messenger Plus you get the option to install the spyware but personally I thought that bit looked a bit like the kind of "yes I agree/no I don't agree to the terms and conditions" section you get when putting something on your pc.
The other annoying thing I've found about the Gmail log-in is by the time it appears I've invariably already opened my browser so it appears under all the open windows and I forget it's there until I close them down again.
Personally I'd rather use a .wav file to play something loud, such as used in the film Eurotrip which is the one I'm currently using

I use sound as well, but do you use a seperate prog or just OE default settings ?? If you use OE is there a way of keeping it open in the sys tray ??

Re: email notification progs ??
I use the Sound and Audio Settings in control panel, go to Sounds then down to new mail notification and set it there.

Yes it does.
As warned above, when you get to the yes/no question, choose no you don't wish to support it and install the sponsor program.
