Website
If l purchased a domain name and pointed it at a paid for website, how long would it take for search engines to find my new domain name, e.g. someone typing the domain name into a search engine and being taken to the site.
When l set up my ntl site it took months before search engines found the site by the site name alone(l could get to it by typing the actual web address into a search engine)

Re: Website
If you submit it then it can be days/weeks depending on the search engine you have submitted it too. Make sure your home page has lots of text on it and google spider will like it and search your site.

Re: Website
I good way to get listed would be insert lots of meta tags to your site oh and putting a submission of course into seach engines the process can take a very long time or a very short time there are really too many variables to take into account to predict when your site would be listed. The more popular the site the more entries in the seach engine will be found.

Re: Website
I heard that google is clamping down on meta tag abuse and is looking more at the site text for ranking etc.

Re: Website
They have never used META tags, very few search engines do these days.
Those along with frames and tables for layout are so out of date.

Re: Website
So you cannot pay to have a site listed, just wait until the search engines find it.

Re: Website
You can pay, but imho its better to do it yourself.

Re: Website
Search engines have stopped taking notice of keywords in META tags (I think the page title is still important though). Lots of text relevant to what the site is about is what's important. Try and make sure it is composed in such a way that it contains any key words or phrases that people might type into a search engine to find your category of site. If you get it right, a search engine might put your site somewhere near the top of the list.

Just to clear something up, if l submit a domain name to Google, will Google automatically find the domain name on the computers that are holding my domain name info and go to the website that it points to or will l have to do something to tell Google where to go?
l'm just wondering how Google would find my domain name as it's not a website it can crawl.
