Not likely unless the Cable Companies become rich, and both them and BT get their acts together and construct decent networks..........

The simple answer is - nope

It would take too much dosh to sort and in this country that would mean taking money from shareholders, which will never happen cos they are all greedy buggers.

The UK has fiber comming out of it's ears. It is well designed and well integrated. It's just that 90%+ of it lays unlit and unused (NTL's included).

There is also plenty of competition for trunk fiber networks in the UK. There are many many seperate fiber trunk networks in the UK, any one of which is capable of carrying all the UK traffic and more, and we will have to pay for all these multiple infrastructures. So personally I do not see adding more competition in this area will make much difference.

maybe so m8 but its not being used !! Why ??

I was talking more about having multimode fibre connection on the last mile !
