Re: middle finger salute, proves costly
In Dominican Republic last year, everyone was told to ensure they had $40 U.S. when leaving to pay departure tax. Every tour rep and all hotel staff reminded people, there were notices all over the hotel.
Come departure day, at the gate to board 2 Engilish men said they could'nt pay. Taken to one side, by two perfectly well spoken officials, they kept protesting they had no money, no credit cards etc. I boarded and after a while I asked one of the cabin staff what had happened, she replied "We have 2 empty seats on the flight sir".
They were obviously trying it on to avoid paying the tax and would no doubt have to pay a lot more money for scheduled flights home.
Ah, the English abroad.
