Just hope you don’t do some digging and find an old German butterfly bomb and think it’s part a Citroen as they could look just the same with a bit of crud on them. The Germans dropped quite a few round the Norfolk, Grimsby, Upminster and Hertford area.
The "Butterfly Bomb" was a small weapon of about 2Kg in weight, which were packed in a container holding 23 in total, which resembled a 50Kg bomb. When dropped, the container split open spilling its contents of armed butterfly bombs.
One type was a delayed action and very dangerous fuse as there was no way to tell if the bomb would explode immediately it was moved or whether it was ticking or not. It’s far better to be a live prat and get Dummy of the year.
