iMAX 3D

Hey,

Does anyone know what technology iMAX 3D works on?

Is it passive or active? I have had a look round and cant seam to find anything.

The cineworld Sheffield website says that the glasses for imax will need to be given back at the end of the showing which to me would point to active shutter as the passive glasses are really cheap!

I only ask cause i really want to see prometheus tonight in 3D on iMax but the other half feels sick when it is passive 3D

Cheers

Re: iMAX 3D

Imax 3d used to be polarized (not the red/blue) so a passive 3d..

Re: iMAX 3D

When it was first built, the BFI Imax cinema in London used an active system. They, along with the other imax cinemas now use a passive, polarised system.

Re: iMAX 3D

Prometheus in 3D is pointless as the adverts beforehand have better 3D effects than the actual movie stick to the 2D and save money, if you go to the 3D showing then I told you so beforehand.

Re: iMAX 3D

The 3D in Prometheus was quite well done, but I agree it was pointless. I'd have preferred to save a few quid and see it in 2D instead. I only saw it at a normal 3D screen, though. Perhaps it's more worthwhile in IMAX 3D.

What I *would* like to see at an IMAX though is The Dark Knight Rises (which thankfully is not in 3D).

I found that you did not really notice the 3D hence my recommendation to see it in 2D.
