Military Wives song
I have listened to this song more times in the past couple of hours, than anything.
Make it Number One in the charts tomorrow.

Re: Military Wives song
It already is. It has outsold the current top 20 combined. Great cause of course but what a boring, turgid tune

Re: Military Wives song
Yes but isn't it nice not to have the predictable X factor tune at Number One this christmas.

I thought that also ,it would have been nicer for a more lively tune instead of one that depresses the hell out of people

Re: Military Wives song
I don't know about lively, but a more 'Christmassy' tune would have been a LOT better.

Re: Military Wives song
You could always listen to Cliff Richard's old christmas tunes or Renee and Renato's Save your Love which was a christmas hit.

I don't think there has been a goog chritmassy tune for many years. We were getting dominated by the novelty songs and the nail in the coffin was the X-Factor who these days can;t even put out something original. At least on that basis the Military Wives, whilst not "christmassy" in the festive sense is a clear improvement on the commercial pap we've had in the recent past.

In terms of its musical value I'd say it's the best we've had for many many years. It's neither a manufactured song or a "get-it-to-number-1-just-to-annoy-Cowell" type. I also think very few if any people would begrudge it its number 1 position.
But I've always felt a Christmas number 1 should be something you would find on countless festive compilation albums for years to come and IIRC the last time we had something like that was East 17's "Stay" which wasn't even a 'Christmas' tune. I don't consider Chris Martin's flatulent 'Band Aid 20' song to be in that bracket seeing as most people have forgotten it already and the only version which appears on Christmas albums is the original.
Going back to the actual song, again it's a worthy cause but it does nothing for me and when it comes on the radio I switch it off or to another station quicker than when I hear one of Adele's songs come on.

I bought this today, I would have bought Staceys one but I couldn't get a copy, Little Mix don't deserve a Christmas No1 yet

I downloaded it on Monday to support a worthy charity, and in an attempt to keep help X Factor from gaining the Christmas No 1 slot.
X-Factor has the same winner every year, and that's Simon Cowell! He owns the format, owns the SyCo record label and owns the artists until they stop making money for him at which point he ditches them!!!!!

Re: Military Wives song
I only heard it for the first time last evening... not impressed by the song, but impressed by the sentiment and cause.
