Dr Who is to be taken to the big screen by Harry Potter director David Yates.

Looking forward to this.

Re: Doctor Who 'to be made into film'
There were similar rumours floating around for most of the 1980s and into the early 90s. The nearest we ever got to it was the 1996 TV movie and these days that's just considered a continuation of the series.
TBH I'll believe it when I see it.

Twice, in fact. I quite like the Cushing films, despite their departure from the TV show's continuity.

Re: Doctor Who 'to be made into film'
I know. Hence my use of "departure". They re-made two Dalek stories that had previously been screened on TV, but the main change was to the Doctor's character, making him a human inventor.

I wonder if this be used to bring back David Tennant?

Re: Doctor Who 'to be made into film'
Does bode well, better to keep the film outside of the canon, frees the writers from unessential constraints when bring it to a larger audience. The director has a good record with those Harry Potter films and if he could do the same to Doctor Who then it's an exciting prospect. He managed to infuse drama and darkness into his Potter films that would be good in Doctor Who.

Re: Doctor Who 'to be made into film'
Well the new movie will also have nothing to do with the tv series by the looks of it.

Re: Doctor Who 'to be made into film'
If they go ahead with this I imagine it would be a total reboot, so they won't reference anything from the TV Series.
