Treasury to close channel islands VAT-dodge loophole

Treasury to close loophole that allows VAT-free DVDs (and CDs).

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-15646470

Will lead to yet more price increases and further drive down demand.

Will also increase use of file sharing sites probably...

I say let them, do what they want to do...then let the black market take over the market in all media related items, from alt news stations (Alex jones - youtube & RTN) to films>music>apps>software>etc

Bring on PTB I say let the greedy cats suffer from their own mis-management (lack of knowledge of their sales market).
If the so called film/porn/music corp are shouting out loud now, what going to happen when this change comes in... shout even louder? many of us will just not listen to there silly points or over priced markets any more. There only so much you charge for any item in this day of age, DVD's CD's etc all over priced now as is - not really helping any body now is it by putting more % on the price is there.

Not to even think about the job losses in these off shore warehouses, when the company relocates to another tax-free haven...ain't they thought of this yet? More seasonal tourist jobs 6 months a year the other 6mths jobless? One wonders where they get these idoit's that call them "good ideas"

DVDs and CDs are hardly overpriced now, you can get most albums and movies for around a fiver about six months after release.

Most of them aren't even worth anything sorry to say Jameseh - a fiver still too over priced more like 3 quid or less as copies on the CD/DVD are pennies to make! The quality of the product has disappeared, with quant glut of supply of displays filled with cheap tat. There no more than @5 releases a year that worth any money at all.
