And how long will the Competion Commission take is the problem as these things tend to drag on for a eternity.

Agreed. Presumably netflix is aware of these limitations, so maybe they have ways around them or done deals with studios?
I love the idea of a monthly 7.99 subscription, but without the rights being sorted out, I fear content will be limited.
Lovefilm have loads of free streamed content, but the newer stuff is PPV. We need new content on monthly subscription.
Netflix coming is great as it's another company putting pressure on the vested interests keeping VOD rights exclusive.

I'd rather they didn't. I'm happy paying for SKY Movies, I think it's great value especially having 500 films on demand to watch via SKY Anytime.
I don't want to be in a position where I have to subscribe to 2 or 3 movie services in the future to get essentially the same service as I have now. Look what happened with the Premier League rights, now you have to subscribe to both SKY Sports and ESPN to get access to all the games. How is that helping the customer?

It depends on how it's done , if all companies get access to all studios content and are allowed to make it available on a subscription basis then this can only be a good thing. One way that was mentioned was limiting a company to so many studios content , this would be a mistake as we'd end up with a scenario as you've described.

Vdio (the tv and film version of Rdio) is also coming to the UK soon so its going to be interesting to see how this ends once everyone is launched.

Yep I agree James let's not forget other players, my TV has Blink Box (Tesco) , Acetrax so competition could really hot up after the CC rule , probably a reason why BSKYB have made a stronger offering on VM.

l agree totally as one thing is clear and that BSKYB know what is coming down the track and they might be many things but being stupid is not one of them.

Netflix has already lost 60% of its value since July after it raised prices for its joint DVD rental and online film and video streaming service and announced plans to sell of the DVD arm of the business.

Sky welcomes Netflix and LoveFilm competition
http://www.techradar.com/news/televi...tition-1038221
"LoveFilm has more streams available but I know that I would take the library that I've got over the library they've got.
You've gotta love a comment like that , maybe if it was a more level playing field. Sky's products are generally excellent however we need this market opening up to provide choice and more competitive prices.

We will need to wait and see what the result of the Competition Commission is? When they make their final findings known.
Maybe that could be why they are launching as they are hopeful of a good ruling?
