Re: Netflix has now launched in the UK and Ireland - [update]

Has anyone with XBMC tried the built in Netflix addon to see if it works in its current state with the UK Netflix?
Im eager to try this out but don't want to waste my free trial if it doesnt work as my HTPC doesnt currently have a keyboard/mouse and with an 18month child around I would rather not have to plug one in.

Re: Netflix has now launched in the UK and Ireland - [update]

I would have thought if you use a htpc with xbmc a vpn would be the best option for access to the usa version of netflix,

I just wish apple tv 2 had a vpn client built in so i could access netflix usa as the content is so much better and well worth the £5.99 plus vpn cost.

I think you misunderstood. I want access UK Netflix but I need to be sure there are no compatibility issues that would prevent me on XBMC.
Unless the above wasn't in reply to me?

Re: Netflix has now launched in the UK and Ireland - [update]

I see Netflix are getting into making their own content

http://blogs.wsj.com/speakeasy/2012/...es-lilyhammer/

Trailer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YAx6zj1Sams&feature=fvst

Quote:
Complete Coverage: NATPE 2012

After the premiere of Netflix's first original series*– Lilyhammer, starring The Sopranos' Steve Van Zandt, on Feb. 6 – the cascade of original launches for the online subscription video-on-demand business will begin, Netflix's Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos told former NBCUniversal Entertainment Chairman Jeff Gaspin during a Tuesday afternoon (Jan. 24) at NATPE in Miami.
Following Lilyhammer will be House of Cards, starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright Penn, and original episodes of Twentieth Century Fox's Arrested Development. Both series are targeted for early 2013 launches.
"We have two other shows in the works," said Sarandos. "By mid-2013, we should have five very high profile original shows on Netflix."

Yeah, I started watching The X Files again, stopped watching it for some reason. Also, anyone noticed that you can only use Netflix on 2 devices at a time?

Amazon.com Inc is about to announce a Web video deal with Viacom Inc in what sources said was one of the last steps in a plan to launch a standalone subscription service to compete with Netflix Inc.

The online retailer will unveil the deal as soon as this week, according to two people familiar with the discussions

Do you mean simultaneously watching 2 or a system Similar to Sky player in which you can only register 4 devices per month and can only change 1 per month.

Re: Netflix has now launched in the UK and Ireland - [update]

Season 8 is the only one I don't have on DVD, so hope they get the rest. I saw it when broadcast, but would like to see again (missed it when Sky Anytime had it a few weeks back).

Is it possible to browse the netflix catalogue without signing up? I really want to see whats there before I waste my trial if theres nothing for me worth watching yet?
Also is there any chance any of you XBMCers have tried your netflix account yet?
