China Bans Time Travel.

This week, China decided to ban time travelling from Chinese movies. That may sound like a joke, but the Chinese government is not fooling around, and it’s not willing to take any chances.
The reason? Time travel in films “disrespects history.”

Now they want to restrict imagination even further?Where do they think innovation comes from in Science..It comes from the what if section of the library.

Re: China Bans Time Travel.

So, are they going to ban any periodical film/TV show then? After all, these rarely include time travel (doing so would imply a science fiction element in a story that isn't science fiction). After all, these are rarely entirely accurate.

Even historical documentaries often get things wrong either because it would be impractical to get things entirely right, or the director has simply misunderstood something.

Even though it's not really a documentary, I cite Apollo 13 as an example of this. Try watching the DVD with Jim Lovell's commentary turned on. He points out exactly where the film gets the events wrong, and why they did so..

Re: China Bans Time Travel.

Maybe they are worried the film-makers are getting a little too close to the truth :O

Re: China Bans Time Travel.

They talk about disrespecting history and yet the PTB in China are not above re-writing their recent history to hide their abuse of human rights..

I really wonder who they think they are convincing sometimes because the majority of their population are more than able to read between the lines if they care to do so.

Indeed. June 4th, 1989 - "nothing happened on that day." Their version of history is loose-leaf at best. The most remarkable thing is that the commander of the lead tank didn't order the man mown down. We still don't know who he was, but IMO he was as much a hero as the Tank Man.

Still, it won't last forever. The Berlin Wall came down later that same year, as did the USSR less than 2 years later. The Great Firewall of China will surely follow suit. Communism on this planet is doomed. It only works for social insects anyway.
