Burnistoun
Just curious whether anyone outside Scotland has stumbled across this little gem? It's made by the BBC and screened on BBC2 Scotland but has never been networked. There was a 'best of' on in Scotland last night and series 2 starts this coming Monday.
It is well worth a look ... one of the top sketches from last year is available here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FFRoYhTJQQ
And the whole of the 'Best Of' episode is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/zxc0j/
If it becomes an iPlayer hit, you never know, they might network it. I don't understand why they haven't ... it's no more difficult to follow than Naked Video was in the 80s, or Rab C. Nesbitt was in the 90s.

45 views, 4 votes and 0 replies ... I guess it really is a hidden gem then. . It's a real pity.
Did anyone view the sketch on YouTube (link above)?

Re: Burnistoun
Seen and enjoyed a few episodes while up north.
We (as ignorant southerners) thought the characters were pure invention till we were walking round Strathclyde Park (on the south side of Glasgow) and passed a number of what looked and sounded exactly like cast members jogging round in their shell suits and haircuts. The accent we were already familiar with.
Highly recommended!

Re: Burnistoun
never heard of it before, but recognise the pair from Consolevania, and one of them pops up now and again on other shows, i didn't know they were "proper" comedians!

Can find the ep on iplayer and can't load the YouTube movie
I missed the first series, it looked OK but it didn't grab me enough to watch it. Gary: Tank Commander was the same and when I finally watched the second series it was very good indeed.

I was the same with Gary. Missed series one, watched series two and loved it.
This show on the other hand did nothing for me at all.

Re: Burnistoun
I never got on with Gary ... I found the chaacter too much of an affectation, a bt like Frank Spencer in combats.

Re: Burnistoun
Well, the new series starts tonight on BBC1 (Scotland) at 10.35pm. Virgin Media channel 862, Sky 971, Freesat 960.
Well worth a look. You can always switch the subtitles on if need be.

Re: Burnistoun
I wasn't impressed by the first episode of series 2. I only laughed about twice throughout. I hope it improves swiftly in the coming weeks.
Is it just me or are the standard of comedy sketch shows these days going down hill quickly. I feel I'm sitting through comedy shows waiting for a funny sketch to break out. Often it doesn't happen.
