Plan To Cap Profit On Resold Music Tickets
Fantastic new imo
LINKY.
They should, of course, extend it to tickets for ALL events.
True fans would then have a real chance of attending without lining the pockets of touts.

Re: Plan To Cap Profit On Resold Music Tickets
How would it be regulated though - it is not in Ebay's interest to cap ticket prices as they take a % of the sale price. And if they did other "dubious" web sites will just fill the gap
surely it is market forces - people will pay up to what they think the experience is worth?

I assume you had as much opportunity to buy the tickets when they were released as anyone else though? And if no one pays the silly amount that the resellers are asking then the price comes done.
DOn't get me wrong - I don't disagree that it might be unethical but just don't think it should be legislated against.

Correct i did but they have only announced last week that they will be splitting up and i had already seen them in December so i wouldn't have brought tickets for this originally, now i know this will be the last time i'll ever see them i naturally want to go but these cruel idiots are making us have to pay loads, i have nothing against someone selling 2 tickets because they can no longer go but when people are on there selling 12 tickets with a buy it now price of over £100 each when they cost £32, that's what makes me angry

Re: Plan To Cap Profit On Resold Music Tickets
The only thing I would say is put a limit on the amount of tickets that can be bought by the same person, to stop someone getting them all and then reselling.
However, once you have a ticket and you dont wish to go, you should be able to charge what you want as long as someone pays thats is what counts.
If you banned this then you'd have to ban it on everything, eg, vegetables.

No, they are not making you do anything. You have a choice.

If the nanny state wants something to bite at - how about stopping [original] ticket sellers charging "booking" fees. Thats just a rip off, making a ticket about £2 more than its face value before you even start.

Unauthorised reselling of tickets for the Olympics seems to be illegal. Is that different in some way?

As I find it infuriating when I'm trying to get tickets to a gig which sells out in minutes then see that the 'bedroom touts' have somehow managed to purchase loads of tickets and are immediately putting them up for sale on eBay, GetMeIn and Viagogo for 2 or 3 times their face value
Even when someone legitimately needs to sell tickets for a gig they can't attend and puts them up for sale at face value on GetMeIn or Viagogo those sites charge a 25% handling fee! But they have deeper pockets than more ethical sites like Scarletmist and thus get to be "official" partners with a lot of clubs/festivals.
Good to see the RFU making a stand against the touts at least:

That irritats me as well. They already make a profit when you buy the ticket, and it doesn't cost that much to run the server farm required for the booking system. Certainly nowhere near as much as it costs to run a call centre for the orders.
