It's a bit like a posh version of open all hours.

It wasn't something I expected to like, but I absolutely loved it.

Re: The King's Speech
Is it a period drama ?
Was pondering whether or not to see it, not something that would normally appeal to me but everyone's reviews everywhere look promising!

Read the reviews and give it a go, it is good and much better than I expected because I took the wife as she wanted to see it.
It is a 1920's to 1940's drama so in essence a period drama but exceptionally well acted.

It is not a popcorn movie and you have to watch it to follow the storyline because it actually has a script that makes sense and therefore requires you to listen.
If you want a trashy non thinking movie go see Suckerpunch as it is exactly what it says on the tin.

Re: The King's Speech
I watched this one with an open mind & I thought it was excellent, I thought the tutor should have won the award.

Geoffry Rush played Lionel Logue a part that earned him the Academy Award ( Oscar ) and plus a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
Also the real Lionel George Logue was awarded the CVO
