Channel Five, new logo mockup
When I read about that the logo for Channel Five would be changed from next year, I thought the look of the logo looked boring compared to the one that is currently used now. So I decided to create my own mockups and share them here to see how they compare:

The proper one.
These logos end up as Idents on the TV screen which are damned annoying. The smaller and simpler they are the less obtrusive they will be.

Yeah the smaller they can be the better.
If I was them I'd get rid of the word "Channel". We all know it is a channel just like the others.
Just stick with the channels name. Just the 5 in the red ball.

I like your mock-ups, but as per the comments above, think they would be far too obtrusive. How about transparent one's?

I wouldn't mind them if they actually served a purpose, but boxes and such either display a number or an EPG so you know what channel your on anyway.

What partly inspired me to create the logo mockup for Channel 5 was the logo for Australia's Channel 9:
