Too young at 39??? Sounds quite old for a companion to me...

I suppose it depends if she plays it seriously or goes for a 'comedy' companion.

Well I'm happy anyway, after I saw her in the Runaway bride I decided I quite fancy her

I'm told that Catherine Tate is actually a good actress. She should be, as, technically having spent a year with the Royal Shakespeare Company, she is a Shakespearian actress (usually considered amongst the best in their trade).

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
All I can take comfort from at the moment is that I had the same reaction when Billy Piper was announced - and look how she turned out.

Re: Doctor Who Season 4 (and xmas special)
If the uber-nerds at OG are in tatters over this, all I can say is, that's a very good sign ... if there's one thing they are good at, it's completely failing to 'get' the popular touch that Russel T Davies has, which has helped make the return of Who to BBC1 such a massive success.
I enjoyed watching Catherine Tate last Christmas. She was very good in the role. It does no justice to her to keep reciting 'am I bovvered?' ... anyone who has watched her show knows that she is a very versatile character actress, whether you find her funny or not.
I'd go and check out OG just now, but for the fact that their server usually falls over whenever anything mildly exciting happens, so I think I'll wait until the kerfuffle has died down a bit.

Re: Doctor Who Season 4 (and xmas special)
I think she'd bring good depth to the role of 'assistant' seeing as the 2 previous efforts have been 'young totty' just as long as her character strays away from the 'spoilt brat' image she seemed to cultivate in the Christmas special.

Yes, and I was saying that I would have liked to see Carey Mulligan, even if she is a bit young for my liking. It's all very clear if you read my posts

Re: Doctor Who Season 4 (and xmas special)
When they made the Doctor look old, I thought at the time he reminded me of the gay character Catherine plays in her show, How very dare you!!
