sherry joins the list of 'healthy' alcohol

sherry has been given the same status as red wine in providing a healthy aspect of drinking alcohol if consumed in moderation spanish scientists have concluded a glass a day can keep bad cholesterol down, it is claimed the antioxidants found in red wine are also contained in the sherry, so aiding the fight against diseases such as coronary heart disease....

Yes port does have the same qualities. eewwwwww ruin it by putting lemon in it!!! i started buying vintage port in 88 that could be layed down. Now the 85 port which i bought in 88 is now strarting to drink very nicely thank you!!! Cant wait till 2015 when the millenium port will be ready to try, supposed to be going to be the best ever vintage

LOL, I wouldn't ruin port by putting lemon in it, in fact, I probably wouldn't come within 10 feet of a glass, it makes me violently ill.

to be called 'Sherry' it has to be made in the Jerez region in Spain.
Figures for sugar are approx 1.4% in dry sherry & 6.9% in sweet sherry. (Source McCance & Widdowson the Composition of Foods))
