I am taking the kids to see my mother (thus making her happy) and leaving my wife at home on her own (thus making her happy)
Two birds with one stone.....

Re: mothers day - what will you be doing ?
Little tip for anyone thinking about going to a resturant or pub for lunch: DON'T GO!! mothers day is considered to be the busiest day of the year for a lot of resturants and pubs that serve food, unless you book your likley to wait for a table, plus the food could be a little off-standard considering the shear quanity of food being made!

That's assuming you have any money left after paying Mother's Day prices for the flowers.

Re: mothers day - what will you be doing ?
I have got my mum some flowers because mothers day is my g/fs 21st.... so it was a choice of going to london for my g/fs party or going upto my mum's. Sorry mummy but g/f won!
I am sure she will enjoy the flowers more than my company anyway :pp

Re: mothers day - what will you be doing ?
What will I be doing, and what will i be getting her? Probably not a lot.
Mother's day like so many other "events" is now a commercial con. Once upon a time mothers day was just a thank you. Now peer pressure says spend loads of money, yet again, probably on something that she doesn't really want or need. That seems to be against the spirit of what the day should be about, gratitude.

TBH, I pretty much agree. However, seeing as I live 140 miles away from my mum, I've sent a card and some vouchers (at least I hope I have - my girlfriend's doing it for me this afternoon ). I never do a lot for Mothers Day, 'cos her birthday was only a week ago and I think that that's more important.

Its not fair. My mum's B'day was last sunday, and now she gets this as well. I have sent down a card, was thinking about pulling a sickey at work and going down, but decided against it
