Always facing away from the wall.. otherwise you're left scrabbling behind it every time someone rips a sheet off. One of my pet hates

Facing away from the wall, then the wall doesnt get hand marks on it

Depending on the way you're facing, or, when parallel to the equator, depending on the hemisphere the table would be on.

if it ever makes it to the dispenser than which ever random way it gets put in, otherwise its normally on the floor next to the loo or on the edge of the sink

so there you are seated on the equator - facing the same direction as the planet is turning

you have the roll, for sake of argument, in you hands

is it clockwise or counter-clockwise?

(come to think of it if you were in an equatorial country
you'd probably be wiser having about half a dozen rolls)
