Smoking
24 hours ago I gave up smoking, a friend of my g/f's recently contracted major lung cancer, she can't walk, she can't breathe unassisted and has very little time left to live, she only found out a month or two ago when she developed sudden chest pain. I've not had many cravings so far thanks to them handy see-through patches and I'll be saving over 30 quid a week which will of course be spent on more useless computer junk, wish me luck!

Re: Smoking
Good Luck. I gave up 17 years ago now - one of the best things I ever did.

Re: Smoking
Congratulations Bifta you have taken the first steps to a new life. It only takes courage and a goal that you want to attain to win the smoking.
I am here if ever you need to talk instead of turning ot smoking. Life can be better without them just praise yourself everyday you don't have one and treat yourself to something along the way. Don't let anyone tempt you to take one.
Be strong
Be focused
Be a winner

Re: Smoking
Good luck. We all know it's wise. One word of advise.
Patches are very good for getting you off the nicotine gradually. But don't make the mistake of thinking you've kicked the habit because you haven't smoked in a month when you're still on patches....

Re: Smoking
Yep good luck
I am afraid (for myself) that I am a pretty heavy smoker, and B&H only costing 85p a pack here doesn not help

Re: Smoking
Thankfully I never started, I never gave in to peer pressure, the amount of times I was offered a ciggie and told, 'Go on, you will like it'. I do not have the strongest lungs in the world. Not only that but I was put off for life, watching a programme in my early teens, when it showed and compared lungs from a smoker to a non-smoker. Good luck Bifta but sorry to hear about the news of your G/F's friend.

Re: Smoking
Never wanted to smoke, seemed like a really stupid thing to do....drag smoke into your lungs

Re: Smoking
I was lucky, none of my friends who smoked ever tried to push it onto me, not that it would have worked.
My parents don't smoke either which I think is probably a bonus against starting.
i've just never seen the attraction
