Home insurance and credit card ideas needed
Right, our home insurance expired yesterday! Do you guys and gals have any recommendations for a good home insurance policy that I can acquire online in the next couple of hours?
Next......we want to change from our Mint credit card to a different one ('cos their customer service is beyond the pale).
Anyone have any recommendations for a new card-one that has decent customer service? Bonus points if it's a business credit card (thats what we use the mint for).
I know that I could spend time looking this stuff up but I know that there are plenty of you out there who have good and bad recommendations to share......it's the personal touch that I'm looking for.....

Don't Virgin do a credit card now, I would imagine they have good customer service

Its a virgin credit card but its basically a Capital one card, Vigin buy in the services of Capital one who then re-brand it Virgin.
And Capital one are one of the most un-ethical credit companies in the world.

Re: Home insurance and credit card ideas needed
I just got a CapitalOne CC to transfer my balance to them to help clear it. 18 months interest free on balance transfers, not too bad Their customer service has so far been really good.
Also, my family in the US have CapitalOne business CCs and they seem pretty good. You can have your logo on the cards and they are pretty well geared up to multiple employees, etc. I don't know if its the same in the US. Else Amex are very good as a business CC in the US (have one of those too) Good rewards scheme and extras for businesses. Again, not sure if its the same in the UK but probably is.

Re: Home insurance and credit card ideas needed
I've found MBNA's credit card customer service excellent. I recently had a fraudulent transaction on my card that they sorted no bother. Customer Service are open 24 hours, UK-based, and all calls are free, including reverse charge calls from overseas. They do business credit cards. http://www.mbna.com/europe/business/index.html
OTOH, I recently rang them for an insurance quote and they wanted silly money.

Morgan Stanley for Credit Cards - Cashback seems a good deal, and they are changin that so you can get it in installments over the year rather than annually.

Morgan Stanley give you 1% on the first £2000 spent per annum and then 0.5% there after. I used to use this until 2 months ago when i found the GE money card that gives you 3% of payments for groceries and petrol / diesel upto a £5000 spend per annum and then 0.5% on everthing else and groceries and fuel over your £5000 annual limit.
Morgan Stanley do provide online account access GE money dont

The Virgin credit card is provided by MBNA, not Capital One.

Re: Home insurance and credit card ideas needed
I seem to remember that they won a couple 'Best credit card' awards to. The points about rebranding may well be true, however when you phone them you are speaking to Virgin employees and covered by Virgins terms and conditions, no one else's.

There's only one place I'd go for a credit card:

Re: Home insurance and credit card ideas needed
I use an Abbey Moneyback CC, which is operated by MBNA. Was one of the best monetback rates at the time. Can't remember having any issues with Cust Servs.
My last home ins renewal came out cheapest with Norwich (Quote me happy) Direct.
