The mystery of the hole
No - not another sexuality thread.
Yorkshire Water have today finally discovered what is at the bottom of the hole outside my house. Some of you may recall that I was ankle deep in raw sewage last week, due to the storms forcing the drains to backup into the cellar. Basically, there's a grate - much like you'd find at the end of a fall pipe from guttering - at the bottom of the hole. Most of the pavement has had to come up - right mess. The kitchen sink waste pipe you would expect to find going out through the cellar wall and draining into the grate, but no - some wally has smashed a hole in the sewage pipe under the grate and poked the plastic waste pipe from the sink into the hole. I mean - who in their right mind would consider this a smart move? So I'm now waiting for a man with a camera to inspect the pipes, but it's looking like a major job, more than likely involving re-routing the kitchen waste pipe. I've no idea where though - may need a second stack. Bit of a disaster really. Just shows that you can never know what's waiting for you in the future, when you buy or rent a house.
