Re: Moans/Pet Hates - Part 2
People who move threads when you are in the middle of posting to them....
It's autumn so it's charity season.
Now don't get me wrong,I'm not against charity or charities in general. It's just that they seem to pick the same time of year to all appear at your door with a plastic bag for clothing.I've had 4 plastic collection bags in the last week...from 4 different charities..now come on how is that going to help?I've only so many decent clothes per year to get rid of and I tend to give them either direct to one of the half dozen charity shops in my nearest high street. In fact I'm more likely to trundle along to the nearest Sally Army box at the recycling centre because they don't actually run any shops or bang on my door asking for them.
Charities might get a better response if they did these charity clothes drives at diffeent times to one another.

My moan is that there is a team member on this forum that disapeared for a while and I was getting a little worried about him as I didn't get a email or anything from him!

Re: Moans/Pet Hates - Part 2
Modern banking...
Let me qualify that.. About three weeks ago, I ran out of cheques. I didn't get a new book automatically (as I am supposed to), so I went to an Abbey machine and ordered one. Nothing arrived.
That was at the beginning of the month, so, today, I went to my local branch to query it. I waited in the queue. And waited. And waited. And then, waited some more. Eventually, I got to the counter, handed my cheque guarantee/credit card to the cashier, and explained the situation. She said "The book should have arrived by now, but I cannot order a new one. Go over to the phone, press "2" and they (the Abbey's Indian call centre) should be able to do it".
So, I went over to the phone booth in the corner of the branch. Pressed "2". Got a message back saying that the call could not be connected. Waited. Tried again with the same result. On the third attempt, I got through, and after a few security questions, the lady on the other end of the line said they had no record of an order for a new cheque book, but put a stop on any outstanding cheques anyway and ordered a new book.
My moan is this: It took nearly 20 minutes for me to do all that. Under the old system, the Cashier could have done it in 2.

Wouldn't you have thought that because everything is computerised now it wouldn't be a problem for the cashier to do.
Hope you feel better soon Bexs

omg, that is so terrible! thank gawd my bank aren't quite as bad as that yet... (lloyds tsb)
my current pet hate is - fleas. our neighbours cats have them and their eggs, and obviously its not the (2) cats fault, the neighbour gives them an odd tablet for them but as she rarely gets bitten herself, doesn't really care it seems. poor pusses.

Re: Moans/Pet Hates - Part 2
In fairness to the Abbey, that isn't my Local Branch (well, it is in that I work near it). My local branch at home is usually brilliant. Having said that, I haven't been there recently.
It might just be that as that branch (Canary Wharf) is quite large and usually quite busy, the manager has decided that all queries that can be handled by the telephone banking system or the ATM machines should be handled by the telephone banking system or the ATM machines, thus leaving the cashiers free to deal with queries that can't be dealt with by those systems.

thanks jules.
stuart: it may be that it was a large branch that as you said any queries which can be handled by the banking telephone system, however when i worked for the company they were trying to get back to the customer interactions, and as far as I know that still seems to be the companies ethos (my mum is a branch manager)
i'm also going to add to my moan... chest infection when your asthmatic!!!
another one... being made redundant (i'm being made redundant in jan 07)
