No gas, 2nd day running...
What are British gas playing at? We have a meter installed, we've had it for roughly 6 weeks now i think. And recently any credit we put into is just eaten away as if none of it ever existed!
We've tried ringing British Gas on the 0800 alternative number (0800 0281028) but we were put into a 40minute queue. Something is obviously wrong with the meter as it's not changing the "debt owed" figure (£2.01) and isn't topping up the Emergency Credit (£5) and obviously not giving us the remaining balance in usable credit.Over the last 2 days £20 has been put into the meter, £5 yesterday, £15 today. (We put £15 in today in the hope yesterday was just a glitch and that it'd bring it upto normal today)
So, now, we have no hot water, no way of cooking food bar the microwave, (and we're on an electric meter too, luckily that one's working) and i'm guessing it'll take at least another tday til it's working again, and then only if they treat it as an emergency, which i bet they won't.
Very very annoying, what can we do?
Doing my head in as it's causing arguments allover the place!

Other than wait in the call que, there isn't much else you can do, sorry. We used to have electric and gas pre pay meter, but got changed out for a normal meters as they were a rip off.

Crumbs! Sounds like a dodgy meter.
A hands free phone. I also have a long cord on mine. I can carry on with, say, the chores with the phone on full, play Greensleeves, or stir my stirfry whilst talking to the operative. Yorkshire Water are clever though - have to press 3 every so oft, which means racing to the phone

Re: No gas, 2nd day running...
Yep, got it sorted, we organised a callback... Never got one, but there were no queues on the phone today. We were advised the matter was fixed, and proceeded to put money in the meter... Worked a treat, and apparantly we were just clearing an owed balance (i wasn't aware we owed them anything) but surely they should do it bit by bit instead of leaving people without gas for long periods of time?

You didn't fall for the old callback gag did you? These people never EVER call you back....the amount of times I've been promised call backs by people and it never happens....
I'll be very surprised if you get your call....

Re: No gas, 2nd day running...
Did you read my post? The next three words were "Never got one" :p
I see what you mean, we weren't prepared to wait in the queue for so long as we did have other things to do. Never occurred to us to put it on speakerphone and leave it connected though...
Anyway, everythings sorted now thank god

Why do you need gas anyway? Surely you generate enough hot air for everyone

It doesn't count when it's an easy target
