Could you live without 'Brands'?
Would you be prepared to do this?
He's even going to put a sledgehammer through his telly...
Presumably he'll get Zing to build him an unbranded PC so he can continue his journalism & music promotion...

Re: Could you live without 'Brands'?
He says he's a "brand addict" - when he is out buying non-brand replacements for his stuff, he should also buy, if they have any in, a life.
Oh, and by the way
"He is also planning to cover his experiences in a book which is due to be published in 2007."

Re: Could you live without 'Brands'?
Can you get a non-branded CPU?
Can you buy a non-branded item? Anything created by a company is still a brand, i'd thought.
Anyway, if you could... What's the point? If you like something, buy it.

I agree... waste of time. He should donate the cash he's going to waste (and will make touting and selling his book) to a worthy charity.

Re: Could you live without 'Brands'?
I agree also if he donated the stuff to charity at least it would come to some use.
Right now I just see someone who is after some time on the TV and Public Eye.

Re: Could you live without 'Brands'?
His original article, here is a load of pretentious twaddle in my opinion...
e.g. " In my world, the implications of wearing a crocodile as opposed to a polo player on the breast of one's shirt are of crucial importance"

Re: Could you live without 'Brands'?
Not sure you could have a car that isn't a "brand".
I must admit though, I've never seen the point of a "designer" label - on all my clothes, if you can see the label, it means I've put it on inside-out.
Guess you could eat completely unbranded, unprocessed food.
Now JML, there is a brand I really hate!
JML Garden claw... bought something very similar for under half the price.
JML Cable tidy (£4.99)... bought the same stuff for 99p
Are JML ripping us off?

Re: Could you live without 'Brands'?
Errr I buy the OWN Brand goods in a supermarket mainly because they are cheaper. They are frankly as good as any branded goods.Every now and then I will buy branded goods 'cos hubby nags then when he stops nagging I change back..he never notices.
Anyway no choice at the mo..we have to watch the pennies.
As for tech stuff I usually see what Currys recommends.

Re: Could you live without 'Brands'?
Aint own brand still a brand and as people actively source them out is it not still the same, just cheaper?
So unless you walk about picking things at total random and be happy with firelighters and tinned pears for tea you will always shop 'branded' style.

Re: Could you live without 'Brands'?
I can't find it online, but I caught the end of it on a TV news program. Apparently when his bonfire wasn't that successful... When he tried to do it, everyone 'nicked' his stuff and ran off with it. Prat.

Well precisely..so I get good products at cheaper prices..without buying things like Hienz or Kellogs. So I'm not actually paying for the brand name...What part of that is hard to understand?how else are you going to be able to buy non famous brands.
