Supermarket Pricing

Went to ASDA this morning to pick up some beer for the weekend. In the lobby was a large pile of cans marked 8 for £5. Hmm, I thought, I'll check that out inside.

Anyway, it turned out that the 8 for £5 offer was for 440ml cans. Once inside on the shelves you could buy 8 x 500ml cans for £5.08...

Do the Supermarkets really think people are that stupid, or do they rely on impulse buying by people who can't be bothered to check prices??

Re: Supermarket Pricing

I like to look at the £ per kg, or per ml or whatever, it annoys me when on the sale signs it doesn't have it on, to compare with the same thing in different sizes.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's just that yours is stupid.

Yes, some people might say we were sad gits , but I like to check unit prices as well. They do get up to some crafty tricks, sometimes it can be cheaper to buy a couple of the smaller packs...

Re: Supermarket Pricing

That's why these big supermarkets are making millions each day, ASDA are the worse of the lot. I went to our local ASDA in Sutton In Ashfield last week, I picked a chicken up for dinner, when I got half way round the same chickens were on sale for 90p more. I know 90p isn't alot but when you are selling thousands of chickens each week it soon adds up.
