It might just be me (bearing in mind that that's a small picture), but isn't that a humming bird

Yep it is a hummingbird moth

Description:
A summer visitor migrating from the South of France. Sightings can vary each year, it is more likely to be seen in the South of England.

A day flying species, it hovers like a Humming bird in front of flowers inserting its long tongue into the flower. You can hear it as it beats its wings.
Wingspan 45mm

Thanks for showing us that. You are very lucky I would love to have something like that in my garden!

They move fast (and even faster when I tried to hit it with a spade...just joking) hence why the video footage if a bit blurd...

No worries - I won't go spraying insect repellant at it now....thats reserved for nasty flies and the like...

Next time I see it i'll try and grab some still shots in sports mode and macro!

Thanks all for the replies!
