Progress ....
Got this tonight .......
In 1969 it took 67.5 Kilobytes of storage capacity, 3.75 kilobytes of memory, and a 43KHz processor to put a man on the moon.
In 2006 it takes 1048576 Kilobytes of storage capacity, 524288 Kilobytes of memory, and a 1500000 KHz processor to write a letter.

Another fact... Apparently, NASA spent millions of dollars engineering a pen that would work in zero gravity. The Russians just used a pencil.
Edit: Link about Apollo 11...

While moving in the cabin Aldrin accidentally broke the circuit breaker that armed the main engine for lift off from the moon. There was initial concern this would prevent firing the engine, which would strand them on the moon. Fortunately a felt-tip pen was sufficient to activate the switch.[11] Had this not worked, the Lunar Module circuitry could have been reconfigured to allow firing the ascent engine.

to be fair, formatting and writing a letter is a far more complex task... and the equivalent circuitry for the moon landings equipment could probably be put on a single die now! that's progress

To be fair, Wordstar did all that (and more) and still fitted on a 160K floppy, and 256K ram.

True... Most mobile phones have greater power than that, and the actual processing circuitry and memory is on one or two chips.
