Advice Required please !!!!!
Does anyone know what the material is that you can put on the inside of a rear windscreen to stop people seeing in, but you can still see out.
It is silver/grey in colour.
I am told it is quite expensive and it's best to get a specialist to fit it ?
I just wish I knew what it was called.
TIA

Window film.
You can buy it and install it yourself, but it has a tendency to look naff- you need a superclean environment so there is no dust contamination, and need to know how to do it in order to avoid air bubbles. If you've tried wallpapering- it's like that only much much harder.
Best to get a pro to do it. Have a google for companies in your local area that can do it to get an idea of prices.

Thanks for the replies.
Window film seems to easy, I am sure it began with the letter "C", but I suppose it is the same stuff.
I found this while looking about last night, the guy makes it look so easy.
I might pop my head in discount autoparts later on today to see if they sell it and how much it is.
Thanks guys

Re: Advice Required please !!!!!
Be careful putting anything on the back window. If you get it wrong you might not be able to remove it without damaging the fine heater elements also stuck on the glass.

Re: Advice Required please !!!!!
You can get pens from Maplin that will fix damaged heater elements.
If you don't want people to see you at it on the back seat, invest in a rug instead and stay in front of the fire. Some lovely rugs at Ikea.

Not everyone uses their cars for fun activities GC!
I think Yesman was thinking more along the lines of concealing tools etc thet he might have in the back of his van - not deterring Peeping Toms down at the local car park!

Just to add, make sure it's not too dark and meets the legal requirements. The last thing you want after spending your hard earned cash, is to have to get it replaced with a more light penetrating film.

Maybe a poll is needed - what do you use your car for. Me suspects many do get up to naughty things
Concealing tools - might want to have a word with Graham

Re: Advice Required please !!!!!
Legal requirements are that the windscreen and 2 side windows are left tint free, you can have a slight tint, but (i think the percentage is 80) has to be lef clear, the back window and rear door windows can be as dark or mirrord as you like. This stuff is best http://www.extremeautoaccessories.co...php?section=54 Allthough it can be bought in a spray! The easiest way to do it is remove the window, and as said make sure it is 100% dust, grease and grit free. Use a very watery soap solution and a credit card to apply it, and once all smooth, get a heat gun (or the missus hair dryer) to bond it on well! But make sure there are no air bubbles! the odd 1 or 2 can be popped with a fine pin though and will blend in with the heat on them. But if your not confident, most professionals are reasonable, get a few quotes!

You need to get out more my lad..it's not healthy for a man of your stature being stuck at home on the blanket in front of a fire.

There's a gag in there somewhere, but I think I'll refrain from doing so.

The guys that used to come fit the tint at the garage I works at never had to remove the windows and applied the film with soapy water with great results, I don't recall seing any heat applied either.

Well I park my car in the local car park - for shopping, getting the train etc I'm assuming you do the same? Bedford's Park is the local dogging hotspot - according to our local rag!
Good advice about the legality of the opacity of the windows though - our local boys in blue had a crackdown on this a few months ago, the number of chavs made to abandon their 'modified' cars was amazing!
