'I've heard a lot about you'
What does this mean when people say it. It's really annoying. Do you think people mean it literally when they say it if your being introduced and stuff??

Re: 'I've heard a lot about you'
Could be worse - they could say
"I've read a lot about you on the Internet"

Re: 'I've heard a lot about you'
lol
Yeah that would be bad.....or something like "I know alot about you as I've been stalking you".
I normally say "I've heard a lot about you" when other people have talked to me about that person and I'm interested to find out more about them.

Re: 'I've heard a lot about you'
Let's say the phrase has connotations. Good ones, bad ones; who knows!

It's what people say when they haven't a clue who you are but you look like someone they should know

Re: 'I've heard a lot about you'
It is also a post that comes up on different forums under different handles. A cynic might argue it is an attempt to lend credence to a spamming account.

My turn for a question.
This is the 21st thread you have started, and you haven't posted again in any of them, why is that ?

and his website (business) doesn't have any contact details except eMail - no phone or address. I was always warned not to deal with any online business that would not give a phone number or address.

Re: 'I've heard a lot about you'
A little dig in the whois reveals that this maybe a one man band operation, hence the lack of address and phone details.

Re: 'I've heard a lot about you'
I get very wary when someone says that to me. I immediately assume it is something bad. Must have a guilty conscience about something.
