And I thought I had storage problems

This makes my attic look positively roomy.
Seriously though what do you think they should do?
Throw it out of the airlock?

Surely if they did eject it all into space, its orbit would quite quickly decay, the debris would fall to earth and burn up in the upper atmosphere.
Much cheaper than bringing it back to incinerate

Not really, remember, what ever they release from the station will be moving at pretty much the same speed as the station.
If they were to get a massive bin liner, shove it all into there and then wire up a jet pack to send it back to the atmosphere (A-Team style) then they could do it (as long as they had the right music playing).
There is so much rubbish up there and not much of it falls down.
Makes passing through different orbit levels quite hazardous.

Nah ... they just chuck it backward and downward, it would then be at a slower speed that that required to maintain orbit plus the downward trajectory would eventually bring it into denser atmosphere causing further slow down until re-entry and burn out.

I'd imagine this course of action would take rather more energy than even the strongest of right arms could supply!

Of course, with every action having an equal and opposite reaction, they'd slowly be sending the station firther out into space with each throw...
